It will advise on the inherent dangers associated with the use of Tourniquets and Haemostatic Dressings and various types of Airways, whilst administering first aid in a high-risk environment for the purpose of saving life. It has been developed to meet the requirements of industries that consider themselves to be at high risk following a suitable and sufficient risk assessment.
Tourniquets and Haemostatic Dressings if used correctly are now allowed to be used in first aid after the recommendations of the 2015 ERC first aid changes and the 2017 Tourniquet changes. Catastrophic bleeding is life-threatening and can kill in minutes so having a fast and effective method of stopping bleeding is a must have life skill in the workplace, out and about and at home.

Haemostatic dressings from Celox, Quick Clot, Axiostat and other Haemostatic dressings and powders are also included. The course also covers the use of trauma dressings including the Air Wrap dressings.

People often think of a stabbing or other violent attack causing death by blood loss before the arrival of an ambulance.
The truth is, an incident with a horse, a cyclist, in a kitchen, a tree surgeon, construction worker, in a factory, a glazier, outdoor activity – the list goes on, all can result in major blood loss and in the few short minutes before the person dies, the ambulance may not arrive until later.
